Shutter count numbers surprised me on an old Canon body

I was fixing up a Canon EOS 20D that came in last Tuesday and decided to check the shutter count using a free software tool online. Turns out it had over 210,000 actuations, which blew my mind because the camera still worked perfectly fine. I always thought the rated life of around 50,000 meant it should be dead by now, but it just needed a new mirror bumper. Has anyone else seen shutters go way past their rating, or am I just getting lucky with these older models?
