Heard a guy at the parts counter say he 'fixed' a shutter by hitting it with a screwdriver handle
He was bragging about it like it was a pro tip, but that's a sure way to wreck the timing and bend a curtain pin. Has anyone else had to clean up a mess from a 'quick fix' like that?

Remember when people would smack old TV sets to get them working? My uncle did that to his VCR once. Ended up cracking the whole loading mechanism. Some fixes just make it worse.

Oh man, that reminds me of the time I "fixed" my sliding closet door by yanking it really hard. I mean, it did stop sticking, but then it also fell right off the track and took a chunk of the wall with it. Maybe it's just me but my quick solutions always seem to create a whole new project.
