The wedding venue's AV guy gave me a 20 minute lesson I still use

Last month I was helping set up sound for my cousin's wedding at this old barn venue in Denton. The place had exposed beams and zero cable raceways, so everything had to be strapped and hidden fast. Their AV guy, Rick, spent 20 minutes showing me how he lays out zip ties at an angle and uses hook and loop tape instead of trying to hide every single wire. He said the trick is to group cables by function first, then cover them with one long sleeve, not individual wraps. After that, I redid my own desk setup in about 40 minutes using the same grouping method and it looks cleaner than any kit I've bought. Has anyone else gotten a quick tip from a professional that stuck with you way longer than expected?
