My crimper died mid-job yesterday and I had to MacGyver it
I was hooking up a new line for a customer on Maple Street in Portland when my Klein crimper just snapped at the hinge. The jaw flew off and landed in a bush somewhere. I had to finish the connection by hammering the connector with a rock and screwing it tight with a pair of pliers from my truck. Has anyone else had a tool break like that on a job and had to rig something up quick?

Yeah but did you at least check if the Klein warranty covers that? I've heard they'll replace stuff if it's a defect, though hammering a connector with a rock probably voids it real fast. How long did the whole rigged fix take compared to just using the proper tool?

Did you try the wire ferrules from the hardware store? I used a cheap crimper for those and it held up fine, no need to hammer anything.
