Just spent way too long in a new subdivision near Nashville...

I was out in this new development near Mt. Juliet last week, running coax for a build that's maybe 6 months old. The builders ran all their own low voltage but didn't label a single damn cable... so I spent 45 minutes with a toner trying to figure out which line went to the living room versus the master bedroom. Has anyone else dealt with new builds where the sparkies or the framers just toss cables in without any thought about how an installer needs to actually terminate them?

Totally changed my mind on this after the last few years. I used to think builders could handle basic low voltage work fine, but then I had to clean up after one where the electricians just stapled Cat6 along the bottom plates like it was romex. No slack, no service loops, nothing labeled. Had to re-run half of it because they kinked the cable at every staple. Now I tell people to pay me to do it during the rough-in, because it actually saves them money in the long run.

Oh, that "stapled it like romex" part got me. I had to fix the exact same mess in a house last spring.
