Stop sanding plywood edges before you glue, heres why

I watched a guy at a shop in Denver sand every maple ply edge before clamping, took him 3 hours extra and the joint still failed because the dust filled the glue line. Sanding creates a weak bond, I only plane or just wipe clean now, anyone else ditch the sandpaper on edges?

“3 hours extra” on one joint, man I once spent 4 hours sanding a single shelf and it still squeaked.
