My snail tank hit 40 babies and I finally get why people say one is never enough
I got a single ramshorn snail for my 2 gallon planted bowl back in March because I liked how it looked crawling on the java moss. Fast forward to last Tuesday and I counted 40 tiny snails on the glass during a water change. I did not buy any of them, they just showed up. The weird part is my water got clearer once the population took off, probably because they are eating the algae that kept coming back on the anubias leaf. I used to scoop them out with a turkey baster and toss them, now I just let them do their thing. The bowl sits on my desk next to a lamp and gets maybe 6 hours of light a day. My shrimp do not seem to care that the snails are everywhere. Has anyone else had a snail boom in a bowl this small and did you just leave it alone or try to thin them out?
