Question about my new fountain pen purchase

I spent about $40 on a beginner fountain pen for my bullet journal, thinking it would make my writing nicer. It ended up bleeding through the pages of my Leuchtturm notebook, which was a real bummer. I tried a few different inks but the feathering was still pretty bad. Has anyone found a good fountain pen friendly notebook that doesn't cost a fortune?

Have you tried using a drier ink with a finer nib?

Elliotl24 has a solid point about ink and nib size. People forget paper quality matters just as much. Cheap copy paper will feather even with the driest ink. Need a smooth, coated sheet to really see the benefit.
