My budget improved after I quit couponing entirely
Everyone says clipping coupons saves cash, but it made me buy stuff I didn't need. I figured out I was spending more just to use discounts. Now I stick to my grocery list and ignore sales flyers. My spending dropped a lot, and that's a win for me.

That sea salt story hits home... my kitchen has a drawer of unused gadgets from Black Friday sales. It's not just coupons, it's any time something is marketed as a deal. Like when stores have 'limit 3 per customer' signs, I feel pressured to grab extras. We end up with stuff we don't need because the sale makes it feel urgent. It's a cycle that's hard to break.

Wait what?! That's crazy to me because coupons always feel like free money. I'd grab a "save $2" slip and end up buying a giant jar of artichoke hearts I'd never open, or an extra bag of chips just to hit the deal. You're totally right, it tricks you into thinking you're winning when your cart is just full of stuff you didn't want.

Oh man, I once bought a five pound bag of fancy sea salt because I had a "save $3" coupon. I don't even cook like that. It's still in my pantry two years later. I basically paid for a decoration. How many weird coupon buys do you have hiding at home?
