Thinking everyone skips the rainy season for beach trips is wrong

I've noticed hotels in places like Costa Rica drop their rates a lot when it rains. My last trip there in September cost half what my friend paid in December. We had a quick storm each afternoon, then sunny evenings all to ourselves. Most people wait for dry weather, but going when it's wet saves so much money.

Have you ever been stuck inside for days because the rain just won't stop? I tried the rainy season deal once and it was a mess. Tours were cancelled, the roads were pure mud, and the bugs were unbearable. Saving money doesn't matter if you can't actually do anything or enjoy being outside.

Totally get what you mean about the rainy season trap. Got stuck in a flooded hostel in Vietnam once where the power kept cutting out for days. All my shoes got moldy and I just sat there watching rain drip through the ceiling. Cheap flight and hotel meant nothing when I was just miserable and bored out of my mind. Sometimes saving money just isn't worth the hassle.

See, I actually love the rainy season for that reason. It forces you to slow down and find joy in simple things, like reading in a cozy cafe or watching the storm roll in. Sure, tours might get canceled, but that's when you discover hidden spots locals enjoy, without the crowds. The rain brings out lush greenery and a fresh smell that you just don't get in dry weather. Plus, everything is cheaper and more relaxed. It's a different kind of trip, one where you connect with the place in a quieter way.
