The $4 metro pass that beat my $60 rideshare habit in Lisbon

I spent my first 3 days in Lisbon hopping Ubers because the hills looked brutal. Then I got curious and bought a Viva Viagem card for 4 euros and loaded a 24-hour pass. By day 4 I was taking the 28 tram and the funiculars everywhere, and my daily transport cost dropped from 20 bucks to under 8. I still walked a ton, but the pass forced me to learn the actual routes instead of just summoning a car. Has anyone else had that moment where the "lazy" option turned out to be the expensive trap? What city surprised you like that?
