Shoutout to the days of stable flight prices
I remember when you could look up a flight, think about it for a day, and the price would stay the same. Now, I was trying to book a trip to visit my sister in Chicago last month. I found a decent fare online, went to grab my credit card, and by the time I entered my details, the cost had gone up by fifty dollars. It's like the websites know when you're serious and just hike the rates. I had to call the airline directly, and even they couldn't match the original price. This happened three times in one week with different trips I was planning. It makes budget travel feel impossible unless you book months ahead, which I can't always do. I miss the simplicity of knowing what a trip will cost without this constant guessing game.

Flight prices now feel like a game of chance. What do you do when you see a good price, just book it right away? Waiting even a few minutes can cost you these days.

It's way beyond a game of chance now, it's a straight up trap. They build that fake urgency so you panic and book before you can check other sites. I clear my cookies and use incognito mode every single time, and even that doesn't always work. The whole system is designed to make you fail if you try to be a smart shopper. You basically have to treat every search like you're ready to buy that second, no thinking allowed.

Ugh, tell me about it. I had the same thing happen looking at flights to Denver last week, price jumped while I was literally typing in my passport number. @henryperez is right, it's a total trap. Makes planning anything a nightmare.
