Serious question, who else thought those overnight bus rides were a terrible idea?

I was sure a 9 hour bus from Denver to Salt Lake City would be miserable, but I saved $120 on a hotel and actually slept okay. Has anyone else had a budget trick they were totally wrong about?

Yeah, saving on a hotel like that. My buddy was so sure a red-eye flight would wreck him, but he crashed the whole time and got a full day in the city for free.
