Paid $15 for hostel laundry in Barcelona instead of hand-washing for a month

Back in March I stayed at this hostel in Barcelona where laundry was 15 euros per load, and I kept paying it out of laziness. Switched to hand-washing my socks and shirts in the sink with bar soap and saved like 60 euros over two weeks. Anybody else have a travel habit they finally kicked that was costing them way more than they thought?

Gotta say I see this same thing everywhere not just while traveling. People pay for convenience without even thinking about if the convenience is actually worth it. Like I know people who spend $20 a week on pre cut fruit at the grocery store when a knife takes 2 minutes. Or paying for premium apps that do stuff you could google for free. Once you start noticing where you're bleeding money on lazy taxes it kind of changes how you look at stuff. That 15 euro load adds up way faster than you realize when youre just tossing clothes in a machine out of habit.

Gotta disagree with you here man. Spending 15 euro to save yourself an hour of scrubbing clothes in a sink while you're on vacation sounds like a fair trade to me. Your time is worth something too, especially when you're traveling and could be out exploring instead of doing laundry. Plus hand washing in a hostel sink with bar soap probably isn't getting your clothes that clean anyway. I'd rather pay the 60 bucks and enjoy my trip than save a few bucks and spend half my trip doing chores.
