Found a cheap way to eat in Paris by hitting up bakeries at closing time

I was in Paris last March and kept blowing my budget on sit-down dinners until I noticed bakeries near Montmartre would mark down croissants and quiche around 6 PM. I ended up paying like 3 euros for a whole baguette sandwich and a pain au chocolat instead of 15 euros at a cafe. Does anyone else have a go-to city for this kind of bakery hack or am I just lucky with timing?
