My last hike showed me how to make cheap trail meals
I went on a three-day hike and saved a ton by making my own food. What are your go-to recipes for outdoor trips? I used instant rice and canned beans, but want more ideas.

That's just rice and beans, not a trailside lasagna. I hope your big lesson wasn't that dry carbs are cheap.

Man, your instant rice plan is way smarter than my first trip. I tried to get fancy and pre-made these foil packet potatoes with onions to cook in the campfire. Forgot to poke holes, so they basically turned into little veggie bombs. We spent twenty minutes picking hot potato shrapnel out of the fire pit.

Saw a tip once about using couscous instead of rice, cooks way faster with just hot water. Throw in a packet of chicken and some dried veggies.
