My cheap rice cooker just quit halfway through cooking dinner

It was a $15 model from a discount store and it made a weird clicking noise before the light went out. Had to finish the rice in a pot on the stove, which was a pain. Anyone know a good brand that won't break the bank but actually lasts?

Had a similar thing happen with my old toaster! The smell of burning wires still haunts me.
