Appreciation post: I just spent $37.42 on groceries for the entire week.

That's the lowest I've ever hit, and it happened because I finally started planning every meal around a single $5 rotisserie chicken from Costco, using the carcass for stock and stretching the meat with beans and rice.

Ever think about the time you save not having to decide what's for dinner every night? That's the real win for me. I do the same chicken plan and my whole week is just set. No staring into the fridge at 6pm. It cuts out so much stress, which feels as good as saving the money. The routine itself becomes valuable.

How do you make a chicken last that long? I'd probably eat the whole thing in one sad, lonely sitting.

The trick is to have the self-control of a monk... or just be really broke. You shred it, mix it with a mountain of rice and beans, and suddenly it's not a chicken, it's a seasoning. The carcass makes soup that feels fancy, and you just keep telling yourself it's a new meal every time.
