A $15 rice cooker changed how I meal prep

Picked up a small one from Target last month and it's cut my weekly cooking time in half since I can just set it and forget it. Has anyone else found one cheap appliance that actually saves you money in the long run?

My neighbor Sarah bought one of those tiny slow cookers for like 12 bucks at a garage sale and she uses it almost every day now. She makes beans and rice in it while she's at work and says it saves her from stopping for takeout on tired nights. I saw her pull out this sad little appliance once and it looked like it came from the 80s but she swears by it. She's been using the same one for about three years now so I guess it paid for itself pretty fast.

Did your neighbor ever find out how old that thing actually is? My buddy found a similar crusty slow cooker at a thrift store, and it turned out to be from the late 90s, still works like a champ though.
