The free seed library at the Fairview branch changed my whole garden game
I walked into the Fairview library branch in Portland last spring just to print something, and there was a little card catalog drawer by the door labeled "seed library." Turns out you can take up to 10 packets of veggie and flower seeds for free, no card needed, and they just ask that you let a plant go to seed and bring some back at the end of the season. I grabbed tomato, basil, and marigold packets that would've cost me maybe $18 at the garden center, and my whole porch container garden came from that one drawer. Now I check the seed drawer before I buy anything, and last fall I brought back a jar of marigold seeds that someone else is growing this year. Anybody else have a library near them that does this? Curious how many are out there.
