Found a way to keep birdwatching alive with a $4 feeder and peanut butter
Last month I lost my job but couldn't give up my morning birdwatching habit, so I smeared peanut butter on a pinecone, hung it from my apartment balcony in Austin, and now I've got chickadees showing up daily. It's not fancy, but it beats the $30 feeder I used to buy. Anyone else got super cheap ways to attract wildlife without spending real cash?

Oh for sure, pinecone + PB is a classic. If you wanna take it even cheaper, I've heard you can just smear the PB on a piece of cardboard or an old plastic bottle and hang it, the birds don't care what it looks like. Maybe try the bottom of a soda bottle cut in half too, that's basically a free tray feeder.
