Heard a guy at McMenamins talking about his 20 year old lawnmower still running strong

I was grabbing a burger last Saturday and overheard this guy telling his friend he still uses a Craftsman mower from 2004 and never even changed the oil. Made me think about how I swap out tools every few years when something new comes out. What's the oldest thing in your garage that still works like new?

Hearing stuff like that makes me feel better about hanging onto my old stuff honestly. That mower probably has another 10 years left in it.

Keep up with the oil changes and blade sharpening and that thing will outlast a lot of the new plastic junk they sell now. I've got a Toro from the 90s that still starts on the first pull every spring. The old metal decks just don't rust through like the thin stamped steel ones do these days. Biggest thing is to drain the gas or run it dry before you put it away for winter, that's what kills most small engines. Also check the air filter once a month during the season, a clogged one makes it run rough and waste fuel. You got a good one on your hands, just takes a little basic care to keep it going forever.
