Just realized my plants do better without winter fertilizer

I always heard you should give plants a little food in the cold months. But last year, I skipped it completely. To my surprise, my succulents looked healthier than ever. They didn't grow much, but their colors were bright. My ferns also stayed green without any extra help. I think letting them rest is key. Maybe others should try holding off on fertilizer too.

What about plants that aren't succulents or ferns, since @christopher661's point might not fit them all?

That matches what a lot of growers have noticed.

Disagree, lots of growers find the opposite is true. Robin_foster1's question shows it doesn't work for all plants.
