My 1985 copy of 'The Hobbit' went from a sad lump to a proper book in about a week

I mean, it was a total wreck, the cover was hanging on by a thread and half the pages were loose. I spent a few hours each night for a week re-sewing the sections and putting on a new cloth spine. The difference is wild, it actually sits flat on a shelf now. Has anyone else brought a book back from the dead like that?

That's some solid work. Did the same for a falling apart copy of Dune last year, feels good to save them.

Oh man, that reminds me of my buddy who tried to fix his old copy of The Hobbit. He used so much glue the pages are basically a solid block now, can't even open it. Sounds like you had way better luck with your Dune project, mark_hernandez12. There's a real art to not making it worse, and it's so satisfying when a book gets a second life. He just stares at his brick of a book on the shelf as a warning to us all.
