Our club's discussion of 'Klara and the Sun' shifted completely after one member's comment

We spent the first hour debating if Klara was truly conscious, but then Sarah said 'She's just a mirror for human loneliness, that's the whole point.' Suddenly everyone was talking about their own isolation during the pandemic instead of the AI. Has your group ever had a single comment flip the entire debate?

Remember reading that book and feeling the same shift happen. Sarah's comment cuts to the core of what the story is really about, the human stuff. My group got stuck on the tech for weeks until someone pointed out the sun was just a metaphor for hope, and then we couldn't stop talking about what we all hope for. Sometimes the best book talks happen when you let go of the plot and talk about what it makes you feel.

That shift from AI to human loneliness is interesting... did anyone try to bring the discussion back to the book itself?

Did they ever get back to the main plot? I lost track after page fifty.
