Our club rated 9 books this year and only 3 got past a 3 out of 5
Honestly I went back through our Google Sheet from January to now and the average score across all 9 picks was 2.7, which shocked me because some nights felt like everyone loved the book. Turns out we had 4 that landed at 2 or below, and the low scores all came from the same thing: one loud member in our Providence club talking for the first 20 minutes about why she hated it. Tbh I think we need a rule where everyone writes a score before the talk starts, has anyone tried that and did it actually fix the vibe?
