Book club pick I voted against (Marilynne Robinson) ended up being the best discussion we had in 2 years
I voted no on Gilead at our January meeting in Columbus because I figured a quiet letter from an old pastor would put everyone to sleep. Six of us showed up, which is normal for us, and we ended up talking for almost 3 hours instead of the usual 90 minutes. What got me was how everyone read the same father-son stuff totally differently, and two people brought up their own dads without me even asking. Our next pick is back to a thriller and honestly I am a little let down. Has a book you voted against ever won your group over like that?
