Always passed on romance novels, but a heated debate with my neighbor in book club got me to read one. Now I see the appeal. What book did you start liking after arguing about it?

Totally get that doorstopper novel binge, @the_pat. Sometimes you just need to lose a stupid fight to find a great book.

Fought my cousin for years about fantasy books being silly... then he wore me down and I tried one of those big doorstopper novels. Spent a whole weekend lost in that world and had to admit he was right for once. It was The Name of the Wind that finally got me.
