That moment the game shop owner explained why he hates Catan tournaments

I was browsing the clearance shelf at Dragon's Lair in Austin last Saturday and overheard the owner telling a customer that tournaments make people forget games are supposed to be fun. He said he's seen grown adults argue over a single resource card for 15 minutes straight. Has anyone else noticed the competitive scene changing how you enjoy certain board games?

You ever watch a grown man throw a little plastic sheep across a room? My buddy told me about this tournament he went to in San Antonio. Some dude lost a game and started yelling at the guy next to him for trading the wrong way. Security had to come over. Said he's never played Catan since then. Ruined the whole vibe for him.
