Reading it solo just left me confused about line of sight and monster movement, but watching Kyle walk us through one room made it click instantly. Has anyone else found that learning a heavy game from the book is way harder than just stumbling through a first round with friends?
Kept a notebook next to me the whole time. Wrote down every dumb question that popped in my head, then checked if the rules already answered it. Half the time they did, and that stuck better than just reading straight through. @claire_fisher41 the part nobody mentions is that you learn the gaps in your own thinking, not just the rules. Reading a rule you already get does nothing. Getting one wrong in play and feeling it? That's the one you remember.
