Overheard a guy at the FLGS saying he never sleeves his games

I was at Game Theory in Raleigh last Saturday and heard this dude say he NEVER sleeves his cards. He claimed it saves him money and space. But I've seen what happens to a well-loved copy of Dominion after 50 plays - those cards get grimy and bent. Has anyone else found that sleeving is worth it long term for preserving your collection?

Man, I sleeve almost everything that gets shuffled a lot. I bought a bulk lot of ultra pro sleeves a few years back and it's been worth every penny for stuff like Dominion and Star Realms. Cards stay clean and you can just swap sleeves when one wears out.

Ultras are my go to as well... I grabbed a case of them a couple years back and they've held up through hundreds of games of Marvel Champions. What really sold me was when a friend spilled soda on the table during a big game night. The sleeves took all the damage, cards underneath were fine. I just peeled off the sticky ones and swapped in fresh sleeves. Way cheaper than replacing whole games.
