Tried 2 different sharpeners on my grandfather's blurry 1962 wedding photo
The photo shows my grandparents cutting cake but grandma's face is just a smear of pixels, so I tried two different sharpening settings last night. I ran the free one first and it turned a face into a bunch of weird square blocks, then tried the paid one on the same file and the cake knife handle actually showed up clear. What surprised me is the blocky one let me read the tiny writing on the back of the frame when I zoomed in, so neither was really a total loss. Now I'm stuck because the better sharpener overdid grandma's eyes and she looks a little scary compared to the soft version. Anyone got a trick for keeping faces smooth while still pulling detail out of the background?
