Paid $80 for photo restoration software, but a free photo editor beat it
I dropped $80 on a dedicated restoration program to fix a torn 1973 pic of my grandpa in Chicago, and it smeared every face it touched. Then I messed with the free clone tool in GIMP for 15 minutes and got a cleaner result. Some folks swear paid tools are worth it for batch work, but my 3 test photos say otherwise. Anyone else find that free options win for single shots, or am I just unlucky with this brand?

$80 for software that smears faces is criminal, plain and simple... I mean, that's a whole tank of gas or a decent steak dinner right there. GIMP being free and doing the job better just twists the knife, you know? I had a similar thing happen with a paid app for fixing old slides, it turned my mom's hair into a blurry brown puddle, but the free version of something else did it in under a minute. Guess the big brands are just selling the name half the time now...
