My kids school art project disaster turned into a wall feature I actually like

My daughter came home with a big paper mache sun last Tuesday and it was so lumpy and weird looking I had no clue where to put it. It sat on the kitchen counter for 3 days and I was about to toss it in the trash, but my wife said to just hang it up somewhere. I grabbed a pack of command hooks for $4 and stuck it on the big empty wall in the hallway next to the bathroom. Honestly, the crooked shape and goofy paint job kind of grew on me, and now I added a few of her old drawings around it with washi tape. The whole thing cost me maybe $6 and it fills that wall better than any poster I bought from Target. Anyone else end up liking something your kid made more than you expected?

Did you try switching up the tape? I used washi tape for my son's stuff too and it started peeling after like a month, but I switched to those little glue dots you get at the craft store (they're super cheap) and the drawings stayed flat for way longer. My daughter made a paper plate lion that looked like a sad potato with yarn hair, and I stuck it next to the light switch in the kitchen. Six months later it still makes me smile when I flick the lights on, even though the paint is slightly smudged. Sometimes the weird stuff grows on you because it's got actual personality, you know?

Are you sure it actually looks good or are you just used to it now? I tried the same thing with my nephews macaroni art and after a week I realized I was just forcing myself to like it because I felt bad throwing it away. That hallway wall is gonna look pretty rough once the tape dries out and those drawings start curling up at the corners.
