Heard a story at the Tacoma forge-in that made me double-check my propane lines

An older smith named Carl told me about a guy in his shop who had a hose fail near the regulator last winter... the flashback arrestor was old and didn't stop it. Happened in Everett, and the guy got some nasty burns on his hands. I went home and checked all my connections that night. Has anyone else had a close call with their gas setup?

Honestly, I get the cold worry but that's not the main issue. A hose should handle normal weather if it's rated for it and not ancient. The real problem is people skipping the basic check for cracks and leaks.

Ever think about how the cold affects those hoses? That winter story makes me wonder if the plasticizer in older lines gets brittle faster than we realize, not just at the fittings. I had a line feel stiff as a board one morning in my unheated garage, and that was my wake-up call to check the manufacture date stamped on it.
