The 10-minute rule saved my show burnout
I was stuck in a loop of watching 6 episodes a night for weeks. Got to the point where nothing hit right anymore. Tried this trick a buddy in Denver told me about - set a timer for 10 minutes. If the show doesn't hook me by then, I bail and swap to something else. It's cut my wasted time in half and I finish series way faster now. Anyone else use a hard cutoff like that?

Oh I gotta push back on the 10 minute thing a little. Saying "the show doesn't hook me by then" kinda misses how some series work. Plenty of shows take their time setting up characters and world building before they get good. The first 10 minutes of something like The Leftovers or even Breaking Bad aren't going to grab you hard right away but stick with them and it pays off huge. That cutoff might help if you're watching pure garbage but it could also make you ditch something that's just building slow. So yeah it's a handy trick but maybe give it like 2 episodes instead of 10 minutes for anything with a lot of hype.

Wait you're saying Breaking Bad's first 10 minutes aren't amazing?
