How a simple morning huddle cut down our repair mix-ups

At the shop I manage, we had constant issues with bikes getting overlooked or two mechanics starting the same job. It was frustrating and wasted time. We decided to try a quick team meeting each morning before opening. In just five minutes, we go over the repair board and each person says what they plan to tackle first. This lets us spot conflicts early and help each other with tough fixes. New guys pick up on shop habits faster because they hear how we think through problems. Our turnaround time improved a lot, and customers notice we're more organized. Giving everyone a voice in the daily plan makes the whole crew feel more involved.

Seems like a lot of fuss for something that should be basic shop management. Most places just use a whiteboard or app to track jobs without daily meetings. Calling a team huddle for five minutes might just add another task to the morning rush.

That whiteboard point misses how tools don't build a team vibe. A quick talk catches things like double-booking before the board even gets updated. The real fix isn't just tracking jobs, it's getting people on the same page right away.

Can we just admit my whiteboard is mostly for my own bad doodles?
