Had a customer bring in a vintage Peugeot with original Simplex derailleurs that were basically frozen solid.

They hadn't been touched in maybe 20 years. I soaked the pivots in a mix of ATF and acetone for two full days, worked them loose, then packed them with fresh Phil Wood grease. The before and after was crazy, they shift like new now. What's your go-to method for freeing up old, gummed-up parts like that?

I've had good luck with a long soak in evaporust... then a drop of tri-flow on the pivots.

Wait, you soak the whole thing in evaporust? That stuff eats everything, doesn't it ruin the finish? Rosew37, you must be working on some real beaters to risk that.
