Just realized the library book sale at my old branch in Dayton runs on a totally different schedule than I thought
I used to swing by the Centerville library sale every first Saturday like clockwork back in 2016, and I always walked out with a stack for maybe $5 or $6. Then I moved across town and spent two years hitting the wrong branch on the wrong weekend, getting nothing but empty tables and a couple of sad romance paperbacks nobody wanted. Turns out the sale rotates locations and the good one is actually the third weekend, not the first, and the volunteers start setting out boxes the Friday afternoon before. A lady named Doris who has run the checkout table for like 12 years finally clued me in when I showed up on the wrong day and she felt bad for me. That explains why my old haul of 8 hardcovers for $4 never matched what I found later, and why people kept telling me the sale was picked over by noon. Now I mark the calendar a month out and I still see folks showing up on the wrong Saturday looking confused. Does anyone else have a branch where the schedule is weird like this, or is it just my luck?
