Got burned on a $40 tote of books at a garage sale in Cicero, half were moldy and water logged
Saw a Craigslist ad for a garage sale in Cicero last Saturday, guy had a tote of paperbacks for $40 and I thought I hit the jackpot. Got home, opened it up, and the bottom 15 books had that crusty white mold all over the pages from sitting in his flooded basement. I tried to wipe them down with a dry rag but the pages were stuck together and smelled like a wet dog. Lost 40 bucks and an hour of my life, now I always pull books out of the box and flip through them right there. Has anyone else gotten burned by a "mystery box" deal like this?
