Hit my 500th 'just a little off the top' request yesterday

I was keeping a tally on a sticky note as a joke, but I actually filled the whole thing. It happened with a regular who comes in every three weeks and always, without fail, says those exact words. I guess it's the haircut equivalent of ordering a plain cheese pizza. Anyone else have a phrase they hear on repeat that makes them smile?

But that's exactly why it's so great! The regulars who say the same thing every time, they're my favorite part of the day. It's not boring, it's comfortable. Like @taylor.mary said, nothing is wrong with a plain cheese pizza. For some people, that's their perfect thing and they don't want it changed. Hearing "just a little off the top" means I did my job right last time and they want it exactly the same again. That consistency is a real compliment.

You said "what's so wrong" but that's the thing, nothing is wrong with it. It's just kind of boring, you know? A plain cheese pizza is the basic version of something that can be so much better. It's like only ever eating vanilla ice cream when there are other flavors right there. Why not add at least one topping to make it more interesting?
