Just realized my basil was drooping because I was overwatering it every day instead of checking the soil first
I switched to sticking my finger an inch in the dirt and only watering when it's dry, and now my balcony basil is actually bushy instead of sad and yellowing - has anyone else struggled with killing herbs by being too nice to them?

Oh man, over-loving things to death is such a trap! Its like when you're so eager to help someone that you end up smothering them instead of letting them figure stuff out on their own. People do the same with houseplants and pets and even relationships, thinking more attention = better, but really its about finding that sweet spot where you're actually listening instead of just doing.

@claire_fisher41 you totally nailed it with that plants/pets/relationships comparison. It's so true that we think we're being helpful but end up getting in the way.
