Just compared watering my balcony tomatoes with a big jug versus a cheap hose attachment... the hose won by a mile.

My neighbor gave me a cheap hose wand last spring and it changed everything. I used to spend like 20 minutes with a watering can for my whole container setup. Now it's done in five, and the soil gets soaked way more evenly. The plants just look happier when they get a deep, steady drink. I won't go back to hand watering anything bigger than a single herb pot.
