My gluten-free loaf came out so dense it could double as a doorstop.

All that work for a brick that even the birds wouldn't touch.

Come on, it's just bread though. Not like you baked a cement block lol.

Why do we always say "just" about normal stuff? See it all the time. Someone cooks a decent meal, they call it "just dinner." Clean your whole place, it's "just tidying up." Makes every small win sound like nothing. That kind of talk just trains us to not feel good about getting regular things done. We end up feeling blah even when we actually did the thing.

Maybe it's not that deep. People say "just" because sometimes things really are just normal stuff. A bad loaf of bread is a bummer, but it's still only bread. Getting upset over word choice seems like looking for a problem where there isn't one. Making everything into a big deal about how we talk sounds exhausting. Sometimes a brick of bread is just a failed bake, not a sign of deeper issues.
