Ouch, that's a rough way to learn that lesson. I did something similar a few years back when I was putting in a fence post down in Lynnwood. Hit a water line, not gas, but still ended up with a muddy mess and a plumber bill that stung for weeks. You're not alone on that one, and that $900 is a real kick in the pants.
