Finally got my drip irrigation to stop leaking after 3 weekends of tinkering

I spent a whole Saturday putting in a drip system for my raised beds, only to find puddles forming at every connection the next morning. It took me two more weekends of taking things apart, replacing o-rings, and watching YouTube videos to realize I just needed to tighten everything with a proper wrench instead of hand-tightening. My neighbor came over and laughed when he saw me using pliers on plastic fittings - he showed me this $8 special tool from Lowe's that clicked when it was tight enough. Has anyone else spent way too long on something that should have been simple?

You said "pliers on plastic fittings" and that's the part that got me. In my experience, those little gripper tools from Lowe's are okay for getting a snug fit on the barbs, but if you're tightening anything with a threaded connection into a fitting, you really need to use Teflon tape first. Take this with a grain of salt, but I learned the hard way that even a perfect wrench job won't hold if the threads aren't wrapped right.
