My broody hen decided the compost bin was a nest
Last Tuesday I found my Buff Orpington, Harriet, sitting on a pile of eggshells and coffee grounds in the corner of the compost bin behind my garage in Columbus. She'd been missing for 3 days and I thought a raccoon got her, but nope, she was just committed to that smelly spot. I had to lift the whole bin lid and scoop her out while she pecked my glove like a tiny dinosaur. Has anyone else had a hen pick the weirdest possible nesting spot, and how do you break them of it without breaking their spirit?
