Went from sinking posts in concrete to these steel spike anchors for my 6x8 shed, huge difference
Last spring I put up a 6x8 shed in my backyard in Boise and buried 4 posts in concrete the old way, dug holes, mixed 80 lb bags, waited two days. Took me a whole weekend and my back was wrecked. This time around for a second shed I used these steel spike anchors you just drive into the ground with a sledge and bolt the corner posts right to them. Whole thing went up in about 3 hours by myself. The ground here is mostly clay and rock which is why I was worried the spikes would wobble, but after a month of wind and one good rain they haven't budged. I checked the level again last weekend and everything is still square. The other thing nobody mentions is you skip the whole cure time wait so you can start framing the same day. Only downside is if your soil is loose sand I would not trust these at all. Anyone here used spike anchors in rocky ground, did you hit anything that made you switch back to concrete?
