Tried putting a tiny water dish near my feeder and it worked too well

I kept having house finches fight over the birdbath in my yard in Austin. Last week I grabbed a shallow plant saucer from the garage and filled it with just an inch of water. Placed it right under the nyjer feeder and now the finches drink from it without squabbling. Even saw a pair of goldfinches stop by which never used the big bath. Has anyone else tried a second smaller water spot to cut down on bird drama?

Three finches and one confused sparrow showed up at mine within an HOUR of setting out a second dish. I swear birds have some kind of secret group chat. Mine is just a cheap plastic container from the dollar store set on the ground and it's like I rolled out the red carpet for the little drama queens. Now the big bath is for the blue jays only and everybody seems to know their place. Little water stations might be the real solution to backyard bird politics.

@taylor.mary nailed it, it's basically bird gang territory once you set up separate zones. Mine turned into a whole feudal system
