Took me 6 months to figure out I was putting my suet feeder in the wrong spot
I kept wondering why the woodpeckers would show up at my feeder but never actually eat from it. They'd land, look around, and fly off. Finally watched a titmouse struggle to cling to the mesh because the feeder was right next to the house wall with no room to perch. After I moved it 4 feet away from the siding, I had a downy woodpecker feeding within 10 minutes. Now I check every feeder placement for approach space first. Anybody else have a feeder position that just clicked once you moved it?
